Riot R1 has to be the ultimate value for money track day tool! The mid engine installation makes so much sense, the engine sits in a removable cradle in the same configuration as it would be in the bike and the chain is shortened to link with a sprocket bolted to the Fiesta differential. This in turn drives the wheels via unmodified Fiesta drive shafts. So simple, so effective no special drive flange, heavy Sierra diff or prop shafts.

A major plus for the Yamaha is its flat sump which when installed in this manor, requires no special baffling if regular road tyres are used. Transmission loss is minimal so all that lovely rev driven power is on tap for your pleasure.

The very first Riot was Yamaha R1 powered and created such a stir at its track day debut that every driver lucky enough to get behind the wheel declared it the finest Sylva ever.

A carburettored R1 engine and gearbox with all ancillaries including dash, switch gear and wiring loom can be purchased for around £1000 making an all-in build cost of £7000 a real possibility for a 350 bhp per ton road missile.
