It is possible to utilise the original Fiesta manifold with its close coupled catalyst along with a stainless silencer and reduce the build cost. However most will opt for the dedicated Sylva system which is made for the job and requires no welding. Two brackets need to be fabricated that pick up on the lower wishbone bolts to support the silencer with rubber bobbins. Please note that rubber bobbin mounts work only in compression; the weight of the silencer squashing the rubber. Do not be tempted to hang your silencer using this type of mount. If you are using the Fiesta cast manifold, you will need to retain the Fiesta Mk4, 3 piece drive shafts and centre bearing as the 2 piece Fiesta Mk2 shafts will hit the manifold. The outer shafts will need shortening. The factory can arrange this at additional cost.

An alternative exhaust manifold can be sourced from a 1.6 Ford Focus. It is a stainless tubular affair. Some welding will be needed but unmodified Mk2 drive shafts can be used.

The boss for the lambda sensor will need to be drilled out if required before fitting the U shaped link pipe. Make sure this clears the adjacent brake hose. If necessary trim to suit.
