Offer the wings to their stays after the chosen wheels have been fitted so that they can be centred correctly and mark where the small cut outs will be needed. With some wheel tyre combinations it may be necessary to manipulate the stays to get the correct clearances. When you are happy with the position of the wings remove them and go around the glass fibre edges with production paper to give a bit of a radius to keep SVA man happy.

Now mix a little body filler, spread some on each wing stay and quickly refit the wings ensuring that they stay where you intended. When set this will hold them in place whilst drilling and bolting and fill any gap between the two surfaces. Bolt on with 6mm. stainless steel button head socket cap screws and large stainless washers. Do not be tempted to try and bond the wings on to keep a flush outer surface as the bolts act to strengthen the assembled parts.

The nose cone is supplied oversize at the back and is fitted using two brass butt hinges riveted to the front lower cross tube. With this done carefully rotate the bonnet down to the scuttle and mark around to establish the amount of GRP to be removed in order to get a tidy join. The sides of the cone are restrained by the aluminium angles already fitted and the rear can be secured by rubber over centre latches.

The engine cover sides need to be cut away around the roll bar and secured to the aluminium angles already fitted on the outer sloping chassis rails with socket cap screws. The edges need to be flatted down with production paper on a piece of flat wood to get a straight line before fitting. The centre panel will similarly need trimming to fit and may require the sides to be angled to match. This can be secured at the front with hinges. At the back because of the proximity to the exhaust it is sensible to fit spring clips on the inside face reached by stretching through the chassis frame. The panel will of course need to be shaped with a coping saw and flap wheel in an electric drill.
