Modified Capri struts and inverted MK2 Fiesta front uprights have served us well. However supply of both are now becoming scarce. We also need to have the ability to construct cars from all new components and to obtain as many components as possible from a single donor, in our case the Fiesta MK4 -5 / Puma. With this in mind, the suspension of the Riot and J15 have been revised around new uprights.

At the front, uprights based on the trusty Triumph Herald have been selected. They have evolved from their original design, a spherical bearing replaces the lower trunnion and updated stub axles are available. The Escort MK2 rack with track extenders has been retained. The rocker arms have been modified at their outboard ends to accept a suitable ball joint. The suspension geometry has been revised to compliment the new uprights. Extra care has been taken with the rack position to eliminate bump steer. A new cycle wing stay arrangement for the Riot has been designed.

A fabricated steel upright will replace the Fiesta MK2 item at the rear. The bearing pack and hub comes from a Fiesta MK4. This means that the Fiesta's engine, gearbox, driveshafts (modified), bearing and hubs can all be used. As the standard driveshaft arrangement has been preserved, the cast exhaust manifold and catalytic converter can be used further reducing cost. Geometry has been optimized for mid-engine use. Sierra brake caliper and Fiesta disc arrangement have been carried over.
